My experience
The nice thing about computer science is that, when you analyze the problems encountered by a client, you get to know many social or economic areas and then build a suitable software solution. I learnt a lot of new things, especially in the first period after my studies, when I worked as a consultant on various projects in Hamburg and Frankfurt.
Since 2014, I have been working for a cooperative association of professionals. This job allows me to better combine work and family life. As a computer scientist it's great to work from home, so you have more time for your family.
The scholarship was a great relief. It allowed me to concentrate on my studies and not have to worry too much about money. In the beginning, my relationship with the foundation was abstract, but after attending the meetings in Berlin I developed a closer relationship with the foundation. The ongoing dialog and the scholarship holders' meetings in Berlin also helped me to understand the concept of scholarships and to develop a better relationship with the foundation.
As a former scholarship holder, I think it's great that I'm still in close contact with the foundation: I can experience the changes and enjoy the fact that we former scholarship holders are still invited to the meetings. The meetings are always pleasant events, and my children have always enjoyed them very much.
