Michael Matarweh
My experience
My name is Michael Matarweh. I applied to the von Mach Stiftung in my first year of medical school. Coming from Palestine, where opportunities are limited and financial pressures are heavy, studying abroad in Jordan was a big challenge for me and my family. Covering rent, transportation, books, and all the tools needed for learning felt almost impossible, and it was a constant worry for us.
When I received the scholarship, it felt like a heavy weight had been lifted. I still remember the happiness of my family when we got the news, it gave us all a chance to breathe. From then on, I could focus on studying and on building the life I wanted, instead of worrying about how to afford the next semester.
The foundation’s support also allowed me to travel for clinical training abroad, gaining valuable experience that prepared me for the next steps in my medical career. I am proud that I graduated in 2024 with a GPA of 3.67 and succeeded in passing important international exams, achievements that would not have been possible without this support.
This experience inspired me not only to strive to become the best doctor I can be, but also to find ways to make a positive impact on others. Whether through caring for patients, guiding students who follow in my footsteps, or supporting my community in everyday ways, I hope to contribute wherever I can.
I am deeply grateful to the von Mach Stiftung for their generosity and trust. Their support gave me peace of mind, opened doors I never thought possible, and allowed me to dream bigger about my future.
